Gregory P. JohnsonPresident and Chief Executive Officer of LMJ International, Senior Advisor, and resident subject matter expert for nuclear quality to ISO-Q Consulting. Greg has over 30 years’ experience in Nuclear Quality Assurance management, program development and training. He has conducted over 500 high level quality audits since 1980. He has presented the Nuclear Quality Assurance Lead Auditor Certification Training Course since 1989, and has maintained his Nuclear Quality Assurance Lead Auditor Certification for over 25 years. Author of The ISO 14000 EMS Audit Handbook, (St. Lucie/CRC Press 1996), which was first ever publication in the concepts and techniques for auditing to these standards. Greg was “born and raised” in the concepts and techniques of quality. Son of L. Marvin Johnson, world recognized pioneer and author of the first book ever published on the quality audit, Quality Assurance Program Evaluation (1970).

This custom designed in-house training is ideal for management, quality, engineering, purchasing, supplier control, laboratory, production, construction, and fabrication personnel who are directly responsible for the implementation of various requirements within their departments.The 18 criteria represented within the Part 1 requirements of NQA-1 are broken down and discussed in great detail. The design and content of the manual, procedures, instructions, and supporting records and forms required within the Nuclear Quality Assurance Program are addressed. Specific organizational and departmental responsibilities and authorities are introduced, with emphasis on their key involvement in the effective implementation of this program.Certificates of successful completion are given to each participant. Nuclear Quality Assurance Manual and Procedures General Awareness Training Courses
(2-4 hours in duration each)Your organization has just designed and documented your ASME NQA-1 Nuclear Quality Assurance Manual and supporting Procedures. In preparation to begin the implementation process of this program, these specially designed 2-4 hour sessions will present the applicable requirements of your program to specific departmental personnel. The course will present requirements of the manual, procedures, codes, regulations, customer expectations, and an understanding of the responsibilities and authorities within your organization for specific operations and activities. Our uniquely designed process allows to introduce the requirements necessary for operational personnel (including contractors) as required by the Indoctrination and Training requirements of NQA-1. Experience has proven these techniques extremely useful for engineering, production, procurement, environmental, health, and safety management personnel and all those responsible for implementation of the quality assurance program and requirements. This course is the required formal training specified in NQA-1, Requirement 2, for the qualification and certification of NQA-1 Lead Auditors.COURSE CURRICULUM:Interactive audit team exercises will cover the development of a detailed, comprehensive audit plan and all aspect of audit planning. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of conducting the preliminary document review of the audited organization's Nuclear Quality Assurance Manual and supporting procedures prior to the audit. Participants will receive a comprehensive overview and interpretation for audit of ASME NQA-1: 2008 (with 2009 and 2011 addenda), which is the version most widely recognized for use on new contracts by federal regulators and their prime contractors internationally. This in-depth information is vital for organizations in the process of upgrading their programs and management systems currently to ISO9001 -2008, 10CFR Part 50 Appendix B, and/or ASME Section 3 Quality Requirements. Specially designed course exercises and case studies will follow the QA Program at crucial points in the flow of materials through a manufacturing/processing/storage facility. Management, design engineering, procurement, receiving and receiving storage, fabrication, special processes nonconforming material, document control, records management, environmental management, storage and shipping are studied in detail.Through our group exercises, findings, concerns, and observations are analyzed, documented, reported, and communicated to appropriate management personnel, including the follow-up actions to assure effective corrective/preventive/improvement actions are taken and that they are determined to be effective for close-out.EXAMINATION: The written examination required by NQA-1: 2008, Requirement 2, Quality Assurance Program, Paragraph 303.4, and ANSI N45.2.23 requirements, will be administered at approximately 11:00am on the final day of the course presentation (Day 5).
